What is a bundle tube?

Bundle tubes are also known as protective microtubes. This type of pipe consists of many micro-pipes, which are loosely or closely packed together and come with sheaths, in a manner roughly the same as that of optical cables without optical fibers. One or more ways of arranging micro-tubes in a certain combination sequence to form bundled tubes with outer sheaths can accommodate more pipe resources in a limited space.

The types of bundle tubes

Bundle tubes are divided into DB (directly buried) and DI (directly installed) types.

DB bundle pipe: The outer sheath is made of sturdy high-density polyethylene (HDPE), providing excellent physical environmental protection. Add an aluminum layer to provide additional strength (silicone-coated pipes, water-blocking belts, aluminum layers or fabrics, two-layer sheaths, tracer lines and pull ropes).

DI bundle tube: Micro pipes are surrounded by a layer of moisture-proof metal or non-metal tape and a black HDPE flexible sheath. DI pipes can be installed in existing pipes or sub-pipes.

Characteristics and advantages

The outer diameter of the microcatheter is 5 to 18mm. The inner wall is of a smooth structure, and the silicon layer effectively reduces the friction coefficient of the inner wall. It can be used to expand existing pipelines to maximize pipeline capacity. Compressive strength and tensile strength; It is convenient for construction, saving time and project cost.

The application of bundle tubes

The bundle tubes are surrounded by a thin HDPE sheath. This design makes the bundle tubes suitable for installation in outdoor direct burial or other existing pipelines. In addition, bundle tubes are also used in FTTX networks. Bundle tubes are a good way to obtain the maximum functionality from the current empty pipe system. It has excellent mechanical properties and can provide sufficient protection for optical cables.
