Essential knowledge for wire and cable inspection - Mark inspection

I. Inspection Purpose

For the convenience of identification and use, the general requirements of the wire and cable product standards clearly specify the content of the marking, the clarity of the marking, the continuity of the marking, and the inspection methods for the abrasion resistance of the marking. Therefore, the purpose of the inspection of the marking is to ensure that the marking of the wire and cable complies with the requirements stipulated in the standard.

Mark inspection applicable to wire and cable products.

Iii. Inspection Basis

GB/T 6995 and related product standards.

Iv. Test Equipment and Apparatus

Steel ruler.

V. Sampling and Testing Equipment

Take any sample of an appropriate length from the cable under test.

Vi. Test Procedures

1. Check the content of the cable marking by visual inspection: The cable should have the factory name, product model, and rated voltage (the standards for different products vary).

2. Use a steel ruler to measure the continuity of the sign, that is, the distance between the end of a complete sign and the beginning of the next sign.

3. Check the clarity of the sign: The handwriting should be clear and easily recognizable.

4. Inspection of the abrasion resistance of the mark.

Gently wipe the text or number marks with a ball of absorbent cotton or a piece of cotton cloth soaked in water for a total of 10 times. The result meets the requirements.

Vii. Evaluation of Test Results

The content of the mark should be complete, clear and easily recognizable. The spacing of the insulation print should not exceed 275mm, and the spacing of the sheath print should not exceed 500mm. It is qualified if it is resistant to rubbing.
