I. Definition of Cable Heads
Also known as cable joints, after the cables are laid, in order to make them a continuous line, each section of the line must be connected as a whole. These connection points are called cable heads.
The cable joint in the middle of a cable line is called an intermediate joint, while the cable joints at the two ends of the line are called terminal heads. Cable joints are used to lock and fix the incoming and outgoing lines, serving to prevent water, dust and vibration.
Ii. Classification of Cable Heads
According to the installation site, it can be divided into indoor type and outdoor type
According to the form of the part, it can be divided into power cable intermediate heads, power cable terminal heads and complete set terminal heads
According to the manufacturing and installation materials, it can be further classified into heat shrinkable type (the most commonly used one), dry package type, epoxy resin casting type and cold shrinkable type
According to the core material, power cable heads can be classified into copper core power cable heads and aluminum core power cable heads
Cable joints are classified into plastic cable joints and metal cable joints according to the material of the joint. Metal cable joints are further classified into multi-hole metal cable waterproof joints, anti-bending metal cable joints, double-locking metal cable waterproof joints, plastic flexible hose cable joints, and metal flexible hose cable joints, etc

Iii. Fusion welding mode intermediate joint
The technology adopted: The fusion mode intermediate joint is a cable intermediate joint made by the fusion mode technology, featuring low resistance and high connection strength.
Structural features: The cable joint is fully restored to the original cable body structure. The conductor, inner semiconductor layer, main insulation and outer semiconductive layer at the joint are all restored to their original bodies in accordance with the original structure of the cable, making the cable joint equivalent to the complete cable structure. The fused cable without an active interface eliminates the interface and can prevent electrical hazards caused by air gaps between the cable insulation and the joint insulation. The material is the same as that of each layer of the cable, and the structure forms a concentric cylindrical structure consistent with the cable body, making the electric field distribution more uniform.
The intermediate joint in the fusion welding mode does not require a dedicated crimping tool, eliminating the risk of loose conductor connection and high contact resistance caused by mismatched crimping molds. The contact points of the conductors adopt exothermic welding technology, featuring equal diameter, low resistance and high strength of conductor connection characteristics, which can meet the requirements of withstanding instantaneous fault current impact.
In addition, the fusion splicing mode intermediate joint can restore the original structure of the cable body, and the cable with no moving interface is fused together, thereby eliminating the interface effect. The joint body and each layer of the cable body are fused together to form a whole, eliminating the interface and inherently having an internal waterproof property.
